The Rice House is a serene and secluded old house beautifully renovated enjoying far reaching views across rice fields a just a short drive to beautiful white sand beaches.Renovated with attention to detail this characterful house, with high wooden ceilings and king trusses, terra cotta tiles, antique doors and windows. and hand picked antiques is a step back in time with modern facilities.
The house has 5 air conditioned bedrooms, all ensuite. Four are in the main house whilst the 5th is set slight apart and accessed from the garden. In the house there are 2 king, 1 queen size, 1 twin suite all with antique 4 poster beds and fitted mosquito nets. 3 of these bedrooms have a single daybed that can be made into an extra bed for a child or young adult.
The fifth bedroom suite, located in the Pink House separate to the main house, contains a kingsize bamboo bed as well as 2 bunk beds suitable for children or young adults.
A main covered veranda faces west offering panoramic views across the rice fields. It is a relaxing place from which to watch abundant wildlife like the dancing peacocks, king fishers and water buffalos as well as the rice farmers go about their task.
There is a second veranda facing the large garden, perfect for soccer or cricket. Between the two verandas is the internal living room for reading. The TV is located here.
The infinity pool alongside the paddy field and surrounded by lush greenery and gently swaying palm trees overlooks the paddy fields where the different green tones of the planted rice changes colour constantly.
The Rice House is just a 15-minute walk to an picture perfect tropical beach, passing the temple, verdant rice paddies and local shops and houses, offering a more authentic slice of Sri Lanka.
Staff in the house include a private Chef, Gayan, who is capable of western as well as local cuisine.

Rice House, which boasts a beautiful rural setting, is only 20 minutes by car from well-known sights like the historic Galle Forte. Several beaches are nearby like Thalpe beach with its natural pools, Turtle beach, Kabalana, Koggala beach, and the beautiful Koggala Lake.
