LIVING AREAS
The living and dining areas are all situated on the ground floor. At the front of the house is a deep garden-view veranda scattered with rattan chairs, which leads straight into a beanbag-furnished living room illuminated by a skylight. Beyond the living room is a spacious, open-sided dining veranda elegantly furnished with a dining table for 10 overlooking the exotic foliage of the leafy back garden. Just off this dining area is a fully equipped kitchen finished in smooth grey cement.

The garden is a very special place. The top half of the property has fabulous views over Mirissa fishing harbour and Weligama bay. It makes it a great place to meditate or to exercise. There is also a beautiful hillside yoga shala. If you look carefully you can find a coffee bush, Kaffir lime, curry bush, mango, cashew and Jackfruit trees. In the early morning and late afternoon monkeys come to play and peacocks to dance. Look closely in the ponds and you will see small fish and tadpoles, and maybe even a turtle.
Around evening, fruit bats start to fly. They look just like batman flying overhead, but are perfectly harmless. At night the garden wakes up, with frogs making such a racket down by the pond that it’s hard to hear yourself think down there! Any of the gardeners would be happy to show you around.
BEDROOMS
Siri Wedamadura’s four garden-view air conditioned bedrooms are situated across two floors. Each features either a double or two single four-poster beds draped in soft mosquito netting, a wardrobe and a contemporary ensuite bathroom with rain shower. Two bedrooms – a double and a twin – open from the ground floor living room whilst a further two twin bedrooms are accessed off the landing on the first floor. A rear staircase from the dining veranda leads to this upper floor.

The villa is located in the heart of Mirissa village between the beach and the fishing harbour.
Mirissa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka 150 km south of Colombo. Its postcard perfect tropical beach and world class whale watching make it a popular tourist destination. Mirissa is 40 minutes drive from the city of Galle, which is a Unesco World Heritage site.
THINGS TO DO
If you want a quiet afternoon at the villa you can swim in the 20 m pool, explore the garden, chill at the pool lounge, watch the sun go down at the top of the hill, or get together on the front veranda for a sundowner. There are plenty of books, board games and sporting equipment to choose from as well as a an Ambalamba for your in-house massage, meditation, yoga or a game of table tennis. If you want to immerse yourself in local culture, join the chef on his daily shopping trip to the local fish market and fruit market where there can be up to 12 varieties of mango on offer! The stunning tropical beach at Mirissa, a 5-minute stroll from the property through a picturesque village, offers fantastic surfing, snorkelling and swimming with lifeguards posted along the beach and a host of charming bars and restaurants.
If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, there are many activities locally. Some of the best whale watching in the world is located at the harbour -5 minutes from the front gate. A boat safari on lake Koggala is 20 minutes away and the World Heritage site of Galle is 40 minutes drive. Wildlife safaris at Yala National Park are 2-3 hours drive and can be booked through the house manager
