Set in a secure estate just minutes from a sandy beach and all the action of ‘eat street’, foodies, bar-hoppers and shopaholics alike will love this villa’s trendy location. And when you grow weary of sampling the many delights of Seminyak, you can revel in your own fully staffed private retreat, where cares of the world are instantly forgotten.

Rustic yet refined, Villa De Suma hints at the grace and romance of a bygone era, with its majestic recycled ironwood pillars, oriental antiques and Indonesian curios. Yet there are plenty of mod cons to ensure the most luxurious holiday, including customised furniture, WiFi, Bose speakers and LCD Satellite TV throughout. The 12-metre tropical swimming pool overlooks a vertical garden bursting with tropical foliage – while a wide sun deck has built-in daybeds and deck chairs. The four spacious bedrooms are contemporary in style, with large dressing rooms and sleek, shiny bathrooms tiled in black granite and equipped with monsoon showers.

Villa De Suma’s position makes it perfect for groups wishing to paint the town red, but its secure estate location and friendly staff mean it is just as suitable for families. Dozens of restaurants are within easy walking distance, but should you wish to stay in, a private chef is on hand (available on extra charge) to prepare generous western, Indonesian and Asian cuisine from a suggestion menu.

For those with a yearning to explore the island, the villa manager will be happy to make recommendations for places to visit, and can organise tours or customised day trips with a private car and driver. Yet with such a gorgeous villa, and so much fun right on your doorstep you may be happy to stay put!

BEDROOMS

Villa De Suma’s four air-conditioned bedrooms are all of equal size and layout, with polished concrete floors, Bose speakers and LCD Satellite TVs. Each is beautifully adorned with hand-picked Asian antiques and artwork, and spacious walk-through dressing rooms have built-in wardrobes. Sleek, modern bathrooms are equipped with monsoon showers and tiled in shiny black granite.

The two upper-floor bedrooms have king-sized beds and are reached by private staircase. Each has a bathtub and spacious timber deck overlooking the pool. Stepping-stones over a fishpond lead to the lower level bedrooms, which feature semi-private plunge pools shaded by frangipanis and accessed from dressing rooms. The king-size beds in these rooms can be converted to twins.

DINING

With hundreds of eateries in Seminyak, from casual beach shacks serving nasi goreng and fish satay, to classy fine dining establishments, and everything in between, there is no shortage of dining options when you stay at Villa De Suma. However, with such lovely surroundings you may prefer to stay at the villa and enjoy the talents of our private chef. His extensive repertoire includes Asian, Indonesian and Western fare, so you can enjoy a richly flavoured beef rendang, shredded spicy chicken salad, wagyu tenderloin, roasted goats cheese with honey herb dressing, and perhaps finish with a chocolate Pavlova topped with strawberry and mango. He can also tailor-make dishes to suit any special dietary requirements and offers a customised kids menu.

Fancy an early morning swim followed by a tropical breakfast by the pool? Or perhaps a seafood and salad lunch delivered straight to your deckchair? Then cocktails and canapés followed by a barbecue in the garden? Our chef is particularly proud of his Indonesian Rijstaffel, with eight tasty Indonesian dishes making a memorable feast. He also offers fun and informative cooking classes.

Meals are prepared from a suggestion menu and need to be ordered in advance to give the chef time to shop. All groceries and beverages are charged at market price (plus a 20% handling fee which is subject to service and tax at the prevailing rate).

STAFF

Villa De Suma is attended by a full staff team (shared with neighbouring Villa Oost Indies), who are on hand to make sure your stay in Bali is everything you could possibly hope for. Our staff are professionally trained and offer a discreet but highly personalised service. They are happy to chat and be present throughout the day to attend you, or to stay in the background should you prefer a greater degree of privacy. FAMILIES

A villa holiday in Bali has many advantages for families, including unrestricted access to your own private facilities whenever you want. Happy kids mean happy parents and knowing that the kids can run around independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus.

A swimming pool and two fish ponds mean that those with toddlers need to be vigilant, however all rooms at the villa overlook the pool so it’s easy to keep a look-out, and a pool fence can be organised on request. The two ground floor bedrooms can be configured as twins, so each sleeping pavilion works well for a family of four.

The team of friendly staff at Villa De Suma will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Guests are most welcome to use the equipped kitchen to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies, but staff will also be happy to do this for you – just discuss your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager and he will gladly take care of the rest. The chef can also customise all meals to suit children’s taste buds, and provides a special menu for the kids too, which includes fish and chips, homemade chicken nuggets, and spaghetti bolognese.
