We stayed one night in the Long House and wished we could have stayed longer. Everything was ideal from the very comfortable rooms with open air shower, the walk to the beach and the excellent service by all staff. Special mention on the food which was excellent for all 3 meals, all freshly prepared within a few hours notice. Our favourite was the Sri Lankan rice and curry with the soursop ice cream. Definitely hope to come back again

Set along a golden stretch of sandy shoreline, the setting was nothing short of breathtaking. The passing train became an almost cinematic moment, gliding between us and the glimmering Indian Ocean just beyond the tracks—an unexpected, exotic charm.The pool was simply scrumptious, inviting and serene, perfect for a quiet dip under the sun. Dining al fresco was a daily pleasure, with beautifully prepared Sri Lankan specialties and freshly grilled local seafood. The tuna and daily catch were our absolute favorites, accompanied by an abundance of fresh fruit at both breakfast and dinner.With just nine rooms, the atmosphere was intimate yet refined. The staff greeted us with warm, genuine smiles, creating a feeling of being both pampered and at home. Our bed was wonderfully comfortable, and we appreciated the thoughtful layout of our private sitting area and the lush flower arrangements throughout the property.The open-air shower—with its excellent water pressure—was a lovely touch of luxury, as was the pristine, well-maintained pool.This stay felt both luxurious and authentic, a balance not many places strike so gracefully. A truly special experience.We didn’t want to leave.Thank you to the management and team for a mémorable finale we can’t wait to return.

It's difficult to know where to begin when considering this hotel. In a nutshell, it is fantastic. The room, the situation, the staff and the service are all the very best. We stayed for five nights and, frankly, would have liked to stay longer. If you get the opportunity, book this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Super comfortable, excellent friendly staff, lovely premises with lots of space to relax both within our room and in shared areas.Enough sun loungers for all guests, and the staff were happy to take loungers and umbrellas to the beach (across the railway line) which is a lovely option.Even better was the discount we received for booking at the last moment .. after being disappointed by another hotel we had chosen for our beach stay and cancelling, Taru Villas was a perfect balm for our souls!Only small warning is that this is a small hotel and so the menu for evening meals is limited in choice, although we found the food to be excellent and served with immaculate presentation.

Taru Villas The Long House was a wonderful place to stay. It was at the end of our holiday. I had arrived with a poorly tummy and the staff were fabulous. They cooked me some plain foods, made me a special honey sorbet, got me some over the counter medication and were generally very kind and caring. The rooms were beautiful and the food was great, the other 3 people in my party thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you so much.
