Villa Mandalay embodies Sri Lankan style. Mandalay is located in the small village of Kathaluwa on Lake Koggala and is divided into two pavilions, one for sleeping and the other for dining and partying. Both capture the spectacular views across the water to the mystical, uninhabited island of Madol Doova.
The house has 2 double rooms and a twin – all with ensuite bathrooms and air con. The master suite is upstairs and has floor to ceiling doors that open fully to reveal beautiful views across the garden and lake and there is a also a private terrace. There is a tub in the bathroom as well as shower.
The pool side pavilion overlooks the pool, garden & lake. It’s open sides allow the breeze & it has a dining table as well as comfortable seating. In addition there is a garden pagola full of cushions in the corner of the garden next to the lake.
Being on a lake you would expect the fish on your plate to be fresh and sure enough local fishermen will bring their catch to the private jetty.
The house is actually in the quiet village of Kathaluwe that plays host to the famous Giniwella temple and the ancient Kathaluwa temple known for its Buddhist murals.
