Villa Sati

Villa Sati comprises a series of individual pavilions, well screened in delightfully established gardens. The largest of these is the open-sided living pavilion, which looks over an amphitheatre-style performance space near the large free-form swimming pool. Encircling the pool are four joglo pavilions, each housing a bedroom with garden bathroom and sun terrace. Among these is the sixth and smallest building – an antique lumbung (traditional rice barn) which doubles as a playhouse.

24-hour butler service assures guests are looked after well, and with the discretion and sensitivity of true hospitality professionals. Among the 29-strong staff that serves the five villas are three chefs, ready to whip up gourmet meals from a well-priced menu of local and international dishes.

Kids will surely gravitate to the playground where the swings, slides, sandpit and Wendy house will keep them occupied while parents recline in the shaded comfort of the nearby balé. Adults get to play too: in the air-conditioned gym (try the Powerplate or treadmill), or at Dea Spa with twin massage beds and traditional sauna. For entertainment beyond the villa, guests may choose to cycle through the rice fields on the villa bikes, spend time at Berawa Beach less than a kilometre away, head for the boutiques and bars of Seminyak, or explore Bali’s scenic beauty further afield courtesy of a complimentary car and driver.

LIVING AREAS

Complementing its heritage-themed architecture, Villa Sati’s large open-sided, fan-cooled living pavilion is embellished with fascinating oriental antiques and tribal artefacts from the owners’ personal collection. This is a comfortable space for family and friends to socialise on the casual rattan lounge seating or gather at the three-metre-long dining table. Beyond an ornate Balinese door set into a feature wall of reclaimed brick is the guest kitchen – well equipped with all those holiday essentials – an espresso machine and wine fridge full of fine Champagne. Tucked out of sight is the staff kitchen.

Lying at the centre of the large gardens is the lagoon-style pool and an amphitheatre-style performance space, perfect for traditional Balinese dances or wedding blessings. Loungers stretch out on the sun terrace and, peeking out from the ring of bedroom pavilions, an authentic old lumbung provides an intriguing space for retreat or play.

BEDROOMS

Four spacious bedroom suites are named after fragrant flowers that grow in Villa Sati’s gardens – Mawar, Melati, Kantil and Kamboja. Each enjoys an unusual degree of privacy, occupying its own pavilion – a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Javanese joglo with a central core of carved teakwood pillars, and walls of sliding doors and windows overlooking the garden. Each bedroom has a recessed three-metre-long daybed that doubles as a bed for an extra guest, and private terrace with daybed or chairs facing the pool. Three are furnished with king-size beds, while the fourth has twin beds that convert to a king. All come with iPod dock, 32-inch TV with cable channels and DVD player, and a choice of air-conditioning and overhead fan. Generous dressing areas open onto a garden bathroom with twin basins, walk-in rain shower, non-slip acid-washed marble floors and a statement bathtub.

 STAFF

One of the greatest advantages of staying in a villa is the personalised service provided by dedicated staff. The staff team of 29 at Dea Villas has been professionally trained and will do their upmost to please with their warm and friendly Balinese hospitality.

- Villa Manager
Nengah, the villa manager, is responsible for the overall operation of the villas, including staffing and guest satisfaction. He will coordinate your requirements with the chefs and other staff, and concierge any special requests using his comprehensive list of local contacts. Nengah is assisted by two villa supervisors.

- Chefs
The head chef and his team will happily prepare Western, Asian, and children’s dishes from the villas’ priced menu, and can cater for special requests and dietary requirements. They kitchen operates from 7am till 11pm in two staff shifts.

- Butlers
Dea Villas’ butlers are dedicated to 5-star service, ensuring guests have whatever they need. They serve snacks, meals and beverages throughout the day, and look after daily housekeeping – clean rooms with discretion according to the schedule of the guest. A butler is on call 24 hours.

- Security guards
A team of guards provides 24-hour security throughout the estate.

- Maintenance
Two engineers look after all maintenance issues at Dea Villas.

- Gardeners
The villa’s immaculate gardens are well tended by a team of gardeners and pool attendants.

DINING

Good food, effortlessly provided and graciously served, is such an important part of a relaxing holiday experience. Dea Villas has an extensive reasonably priced menu of home-style Indonesian, Asian and international dishes that cater to all tastes, as well as vegetarian options, children’s favourites and light snacks. There’s also a choice of Indonesian and Chinese set dinners, and barbecue menus and an excellent drinks menu.

Tea, coffee and water are available on a complimentary basis through the day.

CHILDREN

The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus – and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

With the exception of the one-bedroom Villa Radha, all the Dea Villas are great for families –each has at least one twin-bedded room that’s perfect for kids, and younger family members will love the shared playground complete with swings, slides, sandpit and Wendy house. (Parents can keep an eye from the shade of the balé).

The team of friendly staff at Dea Villas will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you – just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Burger and chips for tea in the Wendy house? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children’s taste buds.

Don’t worry about packing all that cumbersome kids’ equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything they don’t have in-house, we can hire on your behalf.

SPA

Guests of the five Dea villas have exclusive access to Dea Spa – a beautiful light-filled joglo-style pavilion discreetly tucked away behind the gym and featuring a double massage room, sauna and outdoor treatment area with Whirlpool-style bathtub.

Spa therapies are carried out by fully trained therapists available at 30 minutes’ notice, between 7am and 10pm daily (extra charges will apply).
