We had a fantastic stay at Taru Villas – Mawella. The room and service were excellent, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing – every meal was a delight. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and will definitely return in the future. Highly recommended!

This is, without a shred of doubt, the most dissapointing hotel I’ve ever stayed in in my entire life given what it promises online.Online, the hotel seems to be the height of luxury, and we paid for the privilege. On arriving, the staff were outstanding; so friendly, attentive and caring. I would like to state that the staff have no bearing on this complaint whatsoever.The room however, is a huge problem.To say it is dated is an understatement. It is horribly lit, the decor is extremely dated and tatty, not to mention there was damage to numerous parts of the room.The WiFi and the air conditioning are both malfunctioning. Not exactly what you’d expect when paying for the most premium resort in the area.The room is also dirty. I do not feel that it has been cleaned in any way, shape or form prior to our arrival. The walls are covered in toothpaste and the floors are stained throughout the room.To top it all off, we had no hot water to shower after a long day.I cannot stress enough how overrated and misleading this hotel and the reviews are. I just genuinely can’t see how it has more than two stars.I have stayed in better Travelodges.The location and staff are amazing, hence the 5 stars on those aspects. It’s a shame such lovely people are wasted on this hotel.5 stars everywhere else in Sri Lanka has meant the absolute epitome of luxury and class. This is the opposite.

Simply sublime. We stayed in the Pool House for 4 nights. Beautiful local decor and architecture, set in luscious tropical gardens. The staff were delightful. The food was excellent, best we had in Sri Lanka.My son was ill one morning and the manager Oshan drove us to the doctor in his car. Can’t thank them enough.

We stayed in Kurumba House at Taru Villas Mawella. Direct access to the beach from the bottom of Kurumba's garden and our own private swimming pool. The staff were fantastic .

Had the most memorable 2 days of chill and downtime here during a 17 night tour of Sri Lanka. First night in a deluxe sea view room, second night in a villa. Both accommodations were brilliant.The highlight was direct access to Mawella beach, body boarding, dipping in the pool and the quality of the food and service. The breakfast was like no other, freshly made. The Sri Lankan feast was so good, we had it both nights.Having a pool table and other games in a social area was a great touch for the children (and adults to hustle the kids at a game of pool!).As we were here for Poya, we had an extra treat with the new year's festivities!To the staff - keep doing what you are doing, as your service was excellent 👌🏼
